WOW! Can you believe this?* This is definitely NOT a normal Texas winter. The snow started falling early Thursday morning and didn't stop until late Thursday night into early Friday morning (in some areas). The DFW area broke any standing record with this snowfall, according to the National Weather Service. Apparently, the record for about 45+ years was 12.2". However, with this winter storm, the DFW area's record is now 12.5". While some areas, such as north Ft. Worth (near Alliance airport), saw over 13", others saw less than 10". It was so BEAUTIFUL to watch and look at. I have to confess, however, that I didn't actually drive in it so, I'm sure that was not so fun. My husband says that our brother-in-law from Massachusetts would say 12.5" was "a good snow", while 4" is "a dusting". I'm sure they are laughing at us Southerners trying to make our way around down here, even though by now quite a bit of the white stuff is melted. :0) What a spectacular Winter Wonderland! Makes me want to move where there's actually seasons! But then again. . . .
*These images show the progression of the snow from the morning throughout the day and into the following morning. Look at the birds in the last image...this was the following morning.
